Handmade Anthracite Ceramic Cup – Iron Oxide Band, 100 ml

Dark clay, tactile texture and a coal-like sheen

A small wheel-thrown ceramic cup for an espresso or a small serving of tea. The anthracite clay body contains white grog, creating a distinctive texture that remains perceptible even beneath the glaze.

The cups are stackable, helping them take up less space on your shelf when not in use.

Clay and oxides, revealed rather than covered

After trimming and refining the shape, a band of iron oxide was applied to the cup. A transparent glaze highlights the clay’s existing colours and shades rather than concealing them. Over the iron oxide, it creates a distinctive sheen reminiscent of coal.

The cup is carefully glazed, leaving only the contact area of the foot unglazed where it rests on the kiln shelf. This extensive glaze coverage makes the vessel easier to clean while preserving the character of the clay.
